Karunya Sparsham is a rural mental health programme providing free assessment, medication, and counselling to poor and marginalized patients through monthly outreach visits by the CIMHANS team in Alakode and Thondiyil.
“Punarjani” is the name of the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) group functioning at CIMHANS Hospital, Thokkilangadi.
As part of our continued commitment to supporting individuals recovering from alcohol and substance use disorders, CIMHANS Hospital conducts Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings every Sunday at 5:00 PM in the Hospital Conference Hall.
AA meetings play a vital role in promoting motivation, peer support, and long-term recovery. They inspire individuals to maintain sobriety and strengthen their commitment to abstinence. Patients who have completed treatment are strongly encouraged to continue attending these meetings, as regular participation significantly helps in relapse prevention and sustained recovery.
Inpatients are also given the opportunity to attend AA meetings and interact with recovered members. This exposure allows them to understand the AA programme, learn from real-life recovery experiences, and gain encouragement to continue attending meetings even after discharge.
During the treatment period, patients are introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, including the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. They are guided on how to apply these principles in their daily lives, helping them build a strong foundation for lasting recovery.
CIMHANS Hospital remains committed to providing comprehensive care and ongoing support to help individuals achieve and maintain a substance-free life.
